Why do the puppies look so different from each other?
When two F1 Saint Berdoodles are bred together, each puppy inherits traits from two different Saint Bernard grandmothers (one rough and one smooth in this case) and two different Parti-colored Standard Poodle grandfathers. Some puppies may inherit more traits from the Saint Bernard side, while others may take after the Poodle side more strongly. That's why puppies in the same litter can vary in size, coat type, color, markings, and personality. Every puppy is truly one of a kind.
How big will they get?
Likely between 50 and 75 lbs.
Will they shed?
Yes.
What are the grooming needs?
Smooth to curly coat, with moderate to high grooming needs and variable shedding.
Are the puppies house trained?
Each puppy has been started on house training using Fresh Patch natural grass, helping them learn an appropriate elimination surface before going to their new homes. We have since transitioned the puppies to artificial turf.
Why does my puppy come home with a whistle?
Every puppy goes home with a duplicate of the same whistle used before every meal since weaning. We consistently blew this whistle immediately before feeding, helping the puppies develop a positive association with its sound. We encourage you to continue using it to call your puppy at mealtimes or when you want them to come to you. Because the whistle is familiar, it can become a valuable part of your puppy’s recall training as they settle into their new home.
How much does it cost to adopt a puppy?
The adoption fee is $600 per puppy. My goal in breeding this litter was to raise a future service dog for myself, not to make a profit. I would much rather place each puppy in a loving, lifelong home than earn money from the adoption.
I expect all puppy buyers to commit to raising and training these puppies using science-based operant conditioning and to spay or neuter them as advised by their veterinarian.
Adoption fees will be waived for future service dogs.
Several children in the Ivy Pond neighborhood have helped socialize these puppies and have expressed interest in adopting one. If the child completes our little DIY puppy pre-k trick and obstacle course, and the child's parent or legal guardian is 100% behind adopting one of these Saint Berdoodle puppies, the adoption fee will be waived.
